Who are we

Dutch Design

Dutch design is renowned for its emphasis on functionality, sustainability, and simplicity, often characterized by clean lines and minimalism. Rooted in a rich tradition of craftsmanship and innovation, it blends practicality with aesthetic appeal, resulting in products that are both visually striking and highly efficient. The Dutch approach often prioritizes user experience, ensuring that designs meet the needs of everyday life while also embracing environmental consciousness. This combination of heritage, creativity, and modern sensibility makes Dutch design a sought-after choice across various industries and markets.

Michiel van Vossen, based in Steenwijk, the Netherlands, is the founder and designer behind Van Vossen Tenders, specializing in crafting traditional Dutch sloeps and tenders. With years of experience in the industry, he combines classical design with modern functionality, ensuring that each vessel not only meets aesthetic standards but also provides a comfortable and enjoyable experience on the water.

Michiel is the Dutch designer for Tampubolon Sloep, tasked with tailoring designs specifically for the Asian market. Understanding that boat design necessitates different details to accommodate regional preferences and conditions.

Tampubolon

Darta Tampubolon, originally from Indonesia, has been spending most of his life living and working on various ships, from small vessels to cruiseships world wide. He spent the last 16 years living in the Netherlands, integrating his cultural background with his experiences in this environment.

Darta gained a wealth of experience from his Dutch education in the Maritime sector and working as an engineer on various vessels under Dutch Flag.

While living in the Netherlands he also worked for various yachting companies but now Darta is eager to apply his expertise in his homeland of Indonesia. His intention is to enhance the local boat industry, promote sustainable practices, and potentially boost tourism, while also contributing to the development of Indonesia's maritime sector.

The Dutch sloeps, known for their durability and suitability for leisurely outings, are currently not produced in Indonesia, presenting a unique opportunity for Darta Tampubolon. By introducing these versatile boats, he can offer Indonesian families a new way to explore nature while enjoying quality time together on the water, to experience the country’s rich aquatic landscapes.

Inspired by his ambition to start his own company, Darta decided to approach Michiel van Vossen, a talented dutch boatdesigner and cousin of his wife, to create specific sloeps tailored for the Indonesian market. This collaboration can blend Michiel's design and Sloep expertise with Darta's industry knowledge, resulting in boats that not only cater to local preferences but also highlight Indonesia's unique natural beauty, fostering a new wave of recreational boating experiences!
